FAQs

What type of patient is appropriate for Namona’s virtual care?

What type of patient is appropriate for Namona’s virtual care?

Namona treats adults with eating disorders who are medically stable as defined by APA Practice Guidelines. A thorough assessment will be conducted by an eating disorder-specialized clinician prior to patient admission into the Intensive Outpatient Programs to determine the appropriate level of care.

Patient participation in treatment with Namona is entirely voluntary. The highest level of care provided operates 3-4 hours per day, 3 days per week and consists of individual therapy, meal supervision, dietary support, and group-based therapies. Namona's multidisciplinary team collaborates with a patient's established medical providers to form a comprehensive treatment team. Most patients are able to continue in their regular work and school activities while enrolled.

Notably, peer-reviewed studies of virtual IOP and Outpatient eating disorder treatment have found no difference in outcomes as compared to in-person treatment, making virtual treatment a good option for many patients who would otherwise be impacted by logistical barriers to care.
